A GLOBAL ORGANIZATION SERVING YOUTH & CHILDREN
About Us
The Power of Youth Writers was founded by Ekin Akman, a youth activist from Türkiye. Coming from a male-dominated background herself, Ekin started visiting middle and high schools around villages in Ankara through the KODA initiative. Her observations and conversations with students combined with her own experiences, led her to support the curriculum by providing books to students based on their interests while also advocating for equitable education opportunities for all. Since her first action, the Power of Youth Writers has grown into a community of 67 volunteers across 7 countries. Whether it is library building to support the learning experience of students with cerebral palsy, organizing career building workshops for girls in technical high schools, the PYW made its mission to empower students of all backgrounds.
